Hear 2025 Booker Prize winner David Szalay trace the evolution of his singular, propulsive novel 'Flesh' and the slowly unravelling life of its protagonist in conversation with Michelle de Kretser.

In Szalay’s 'Flesh', István is caught between the boundaries of Hungary and England, his teenage years and adulthood, his body and sense of self and desire and indifference. With spare, propulsive prose, David paints an intimate portrait of a man slowly unravelling as he asks profound questions about the strangeness of being.

This is a live stream event and will be available for viewing at Gosford Regional Library. David Szalay will not be in person at this event but streamed from the Writers' Festival in Sydney.

Bookings essential. Book online from this page, ask in any library branch, or phone 4304 7500
