All ​Central Coast ratepayers and residents can enjoy the free library service provided by Central Coast Council. Membership is also available to those who work on the Central Coast but do not live in the area. Borrow books, audio books, music CDs, DVDs and magazines - there is sure to be something to suit all tastes in our extensive catalogue.
To become a member of the library, you can join online.

Temporary borrowers

Residents of New South Wales who are visiting​ the area may become temporary members of the library. Temporary memberships will expire after 12 months.

Items for loan

Library members can borrow up to 20 items per membership card. These 20 items can be made up of any combination of the following:

  • books
  • audio books (CD or mp3)
  • music CDs
  • DVDs
  • magazines

Members can borrow a combination of up to 10 eBooks/eAudio from each of our eResources platforms.

The borrowing period is:

  • one week for magazines, "Fast Reads" and "Fast Flicks", no renewals or reservations
  • three weeks for all other material.

Items can be borrowed from and returned to any branch, or the Bookmobile. After-hours returns chutes are available at each branch.

Items may be renewed once (providing they have not been reserved by another customer). You can renew over the phone through your local branch, or through the Member Services area of our Online Catalogue.

Member reviews

Members can now review books and other items via our online catalogue, providing a great way to find new material. So why not help your fellow readers discover new books and authors and add a review today!

Rate and review in five easy steps:
1. Go to the library catalogue.
2. Use the search box to locate the item record you wish to review and click OK to retrieve it.
3. Once on the item record scroll down to the bottom of the page to ‘Reviews’. Click on ‘Add a Review and/or rating’.
4. Login with your member number and password (your date of birth as an eight-digit number).
5. You can now rate the item from 0 to 5 stars and write a comment or short review. Click submit and you are all done.

How do I renew my items?

Items may be renewed in person, by telephone or online. Overdue items cannot be renewed online; you must visit one of the branches. Items can only be renewed once and then only if the item has not been reserved by another customer.

Please note: there is no renewal or reservation on Fast Reads.

How do I return my items when the library is closed?

All Libraries have a return chute near the front entry.
